Club Wahoo! with the Leftside Ensemble DJs
このジャズトリオみたいな名前のクルー、Leftside Ensemble DJsは5年前にフィンランドの首都、ヘルシンキで結成された。メンバーのSampsa Vihunen, Vesa Yli-Pelkonen、Antti Eerik臺nenは過去数年にわたってフィンランドのクラブではもちろん、ヨーロッパ全域でも（Plastic People, Jazzrooms, Hi-Fi-terapiなど）DJキャリアを積んできたDJグループだ。
過去3年間Umo Jazz Clubで彼らが続けて来た地元ヘルシンキで一番知られているイベント、Wahoo! club nightは彼らの活動起点とも言えるだろう。Tallinn EstoniaでもSupreme Sounds DJsと組み１年間やってきたこのイベントのスタイルはJazz, Brazilian Funk, Rare Groove, Eclectic DanceからアングラHip Hopまでと幅広く、また、ゲストDJにはDom Servini, Elvind Olsvik, Nik Weston, Mad Mats、ライヴにはFive Corners QuintetやDidier Sound Spectrumなどと多様なアーティスト達も参加してきた過去もある。このイベントが北欧の耳利きクラバー達に愛されてきた理由はここにあるのだろう。

Club Wahoo 50th Show Special
ここ３年以上もヘルシンキをベースとするThe Leftside Ensemble DJs（現在のメンバーはSampsa Vilhunen, Vesa Yli-Pelkonen and Antti Eerikainen）に楽しませてもらってきたわけだが、彼らの音楽への造詣はヤバいくらい深く、その作品は耳を捉えて離さない。最近Redrumに移ったUmo Jazz HouseのWahooナイトでのレジデントとしてホームタウンでは有名な存在だが、ヨーロッパ中にゲストＤＪとしても忙しい。Samurai FM での５０回目のショウを記念して２部構成のスペシャル枠をお届けすることになった。彼らのレアな音源も耳にできそう。Wahooのアニヴァーサリーショウ、楽しんでくれ。

It’s one of the long ones again!
Starting of with a classic Horace Silver number (but with a Jamaican Jazz Crusaders take), then quite a few library and soundtrack cuts and other weird and novel stuff there (i.e., Carpenborg and The Electric Corona, wow!) plus some 9Ts jazzy numbers ('Forbidden Zone' being relatively rare cut I believe).
Watch out for the real hidden vocal gem in the half way - “Full Moon out Tonight” from a Hoctor children’s record.
Also really feeling the Milt Jackson track close to the end...“A Sound for Sore Ears" is the title in that one. Could as well be the title for the whole selection!

Some classics, few less known favourites, I hope you like it!
This show contains some nice summer sounds from a bit all around the world. Starting off with some 50’s and 60’s jazz from the North America and Europe, too - then moving on to hypnotic beats of Persia and Egypt, and then to Patti Jo’s soulful classic and to a brand new Jo Stance 7” from a Ricky-Tick label, Finland. After this starts a brief excursion to Eastern European 80’s disco, from Romania to Lithuania and Latvia and also to one contemporary Finnish disco tune. Finally, three really nice 80’s/90’s soul groovers from the U.S.A. Take a listen, I hope you dig it!
