It is rare that we hear a mix that encapsulates everything we like about a DJ set but when he heard this one we knew we had to have it as a Guest Module for the blog.

DJINN has managed to capture the pirate radio style of DJ'ing that helped catapult the hardcore/jungle scene so rapidly back in the early nineties and also pinpoints why Reinforced was so pivitol in transforming the music and gave dnb the cutting edge and forward thinking approach we fell in love with.

Reinforced was a leader in modern fusion and production techniques and was one of the most important labels in UK dance music.

This mix illustrates why it was at the forefront of the drum and bass scene and features tracks from some of the genres most well respected names and pioneers.

The Enforcers series were limited edition 12 inch picture discs that became instantly collectible and are still in demand today.

DJINN has been a regular face on the UK underground scene for almost 10 years progressing through jungle to dubstep, she has held down two previous long-standing radio shows as well as appearing at countless events across the UK and Europe.

Highlight sets include B.LOW (Barcelona), SUBWAY (Rotterdam), FABRIC (London), TOP RANKING (Geneva), OUTLOOK FESTIVAL (Pula), DUB CITY/KNOCKOUT (Amsterdam), SYNAPSE (Charleroi), VIBRATION II (Prague), VW EXTRA FESTIVAL (Shropshire), BEATHERDER FESTIVAL (Clitheroe), BASSCAMP vs EXODUS (Manchester) and RUBBERDUB (Nottingham).

The second in our guest mix series features a brand new set from vinyl collector, blogger and drum and bass authority Law. Here he captures a time that we are extremely passionate about, deep jungle from 1993-1996.

Here are a few words from the man himself.

"There was a period (roughly) between 1993 to 96 where jungle was not only atmospheric or dark, but it had an other worldly, sci-fi feel. Labels like Deejay, Lucky Spin, Legend, Timeless, Rugged Vinyl and others captured this spacey, blissed-out vibe. A quality that now seems more or less extinct within the contemporary drum and bass scene.

I tried to select tunes for this mix that represent the broad spectrum of this sound. With brooding, dark tracks like 'Fury' and 'Genesis Project' to the more calming, deep sounds of 'Intalect' and 'Traveling Pt 2'.

There is a feeling of nervous mystery and wonder to these tunes, as if they could be the soundtrack to that part of a sci-fi film where the human protagonists discover a new world, a mystery accelerated by the fact that these sounds now only exist in the past."

Frequency Module “Volume 012″

This episode of the Frequency Module sees French based MC @mattic taking over for an hour and twenty minutes of unreleased demos, audio samples and freestyles.

Divided into three sections it begins with Echo Mysteries Volume 6 "Chapter 0 And The Glass Door (Flames In Letters)". These tracks were constructed whilst on the 2013 US Tour with Wax Tailor. Nineties heads will instantly fall in love with "Vaders Stroll" whilst DOOM fans will be drawn to the more abstract nature of "O Long Johnson".

Perfectly constructed and made "just for fun" Volume 6 gives you a wonderfully deep insight into the twisted world of Mattic and offers an intimate glimpse of where his head is at in 2013.

The second section of the mix is entitled Volume 4 "Adventures Over The Beat Konductor Pt 2". Mattic drops freestyles over Madlib beats and fuses together an assortment of his favourite Bomb Shelter productions. Madlib junkies will be drawn in by the first rate selection and captivated by the layers of additional samples and effects.

Volume 4 also contains a guest appearance from Astrid Engberg (The Elf From Up North).

The mix draws to a close with Volume 1 "Underwater Sunsets Of J Dilla". Straight up Mattic madness over Jay Dee beats.

Beats by Dilla. Rhymes, samples and extra audio layers by Mattic (The Titan From Asgard).

Be sure to follow him on Soundcloud for more free downloads: @mattic

Keep an eye out for his new album due later this year.

This selection also demonstrates how the R sound evolved and how it managed to stay ahead of the game by taking risks and daring to be different.
