Hailing from Oakland California, Juan Gomez is a DJ/journalist/photographer and the man behind digging4gold.tumblr.com, which chronicles his ongoing search for music throughout West Africa. His passion for African music, both old and new, has allowed him to present the music of seemingly contrasting eras and countries in a cohesive manner to the delight of partygoers around the world including Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Cuba as well as club goers back in the United States. He is currently working on a new project, set to launch in later this year, revolving around azonto, the latest music craze coming out of Ghana.

For this mix, Juan has decided to shine a spotlight on the vibrant scene of 1970s Accra,Ghana by put together some of his favorite afro-funk records alongside a few interview snippets with legendary Ghanaian funksters, Eboy Taylor and Gyedu-Blay Ambolley.
