South West Four Weekender presents Gareth Emery
We bring you the second part in our series of exclusive mixes from a handful of selected artists appearing at this year's South West Four Weekender.
Over the past twelve months, the popularity and buzz surrounding Gareth Emery has reached explosive proportions. One of only a handful of DJs to crack the world’s top ten before the age of 30, this can be attributed to producing pure club anthems like ‘Exposure’ and ‘Metropolis’ and stunning remixes for Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond. He started learning the piano at four and had real interest in guitar-based sounds. But it was a chance trip to Ibiza in 1998 that opened his eyes to the appeal of dance music, and after spending the next three years learning to make music with computers and midi, rather than guitars and pianos, he produced his first electronic track.
These days, his records span the worlds of trance, progressive, electro, and techno, but more importantly, he’s firmly established as one of those rare producers who values quality over quantity. But if there’s one place where he’s even more at home than in his studio, it’s behind the decks. This is where Gareth has morphed into the consummate superstar DJ, unequivocally demolishing dancefloors the world over.

Rebel Butterfly presents Time And Space Machine
Richard Norris's journey into psych began as a teenager when he worked for the legendary UK psych label Bam Caruso, who released dozens of psychedelic and freakbeat compilations alongside artist albums from the Seeds, the Left Banke, the Walker Brothers, John's Children, July and many more. "It was like attending psychedelic university," says Richard.
His first full-length album, 1987’s 'Jack The Tab', was co-produced by Genesis P-Orridge and was one of the first UK acid house albums. The accent was on acid rather than house however – samples from Tiny Tim, 'The Trip' and many other sixties cut-ups abound, alongside Peter Fonda's "We want to get Loaded… We want to have a good time", a full year before Primal Scream.

Black Van is the coming together of two respected electronic producers - Kris Menace & KoweSix (one half of Moonbootica). The Black Van project takes their shared love of early electronica and disco to the next level by exploring the possibilities of analogue perfection and introducing classic songwriting from some of the best indie vocalists from USA and Europe.
Kris is known for his anthemic singles such as ‘Discopolis’ and his collaborations with Fred Falke, Felix Da Housecat and Alan Braxe as well as his latest ‘Idiosyncracies’ album.
