Original Cultures is a non-profit project that aims to facilitate and promote cultural exchange between Japan and Europe through modern performing arts. At its simplest, the project is about allowing artists to visit each other's countries, collaborate and exchange with each other through their art, be it music making or painting. This exchange is documented in every form and released for free on the internet to create a permanent record for anyone to see/hear and be inspired. The project was born in late 2008 and was launched in early 2009 linking England, Italy and Japan. Current artists involved in the project include musicians/producers 2tall / Om Unit (UK), Tayone (IT), Tatsuki (JP), Goth Trad (JP) as well as visual artists Will Baras (UK), DEM (IT) and Erica il Cane (IT).
Each month Original Cultures radio will showcase one of the artists involved in the project with an exclusive mix of their own music as well as the stuff that inspires them. The show will also feature exclusive recordings from the Original Cultures events.
