Octopus
Let's get it straight from the start, both intellectual and also naive, sweat soaked and wide eyed at 5am on the dancefloor, we do this for all the right reasons. Firmly rooted in the ideals of techno as a movement - a 20th century artform, Octopus was born out of the necessity for our unique sound to be heard. A degree more left-field, more anarchic than most typical techno labels, always pushing toward a more hedonistic and chic brand of individual expressionism. The labels initial limited edition output has already included work by artists and remixers Ripperton, Sian, Gui Boratto, Calculus, Nico Purman, 3 Channels and Herve AK. The second series of Octopus releases will feature brand new core artist material plus remixes from Jonas Kopp, Roland M Dill, John Selway, Jet Project, Exercise One and more.

An important facet of Octopus is the coalescing of visual artists into our circle, forming collaborative partnerships using new technology and explorations in audiovisual adventures. Octopus is curated and maintained by Sian and Mirus in Barcelona. Sian has made guest appearances on labels like Sci&Tec, Pokerflat and Mule plus ongoing output on the Aus imprint, with pioneers like Steve Bug, Gui Boratto, Minilogue, Efdemin and Pan-Pot remixing him, he is now regarded as an intensively inventive emerging electronic musician and DJ. Taking his dancefloor voodoo worldwide, he's broken hearts and boundaries alike in clubs globally. Meanwhile, the Norwegian Mirus, fast becoming known for his house label Indigo, manages the imprint, DJs everywhere from the D-edge to La Terrazza, and is the solid foundation for the labels growth. Only in its infancy the label is already gaining support by everyone from Carl Cox, Dubfire, Slam, Loco Dice, Sasha, Josh Wink, m.a.n.d.y, Damian Lazarus and James Lavelle to DJMAG, XLR8, Raveline, BBC Radio1 and Resident Advisor. The labels output is in context as a whole, challenging the traditional way of releasing albums or 12s, we aim at spanning eras in our development, working seamlessly with our roster artists and the contemporary peers we most admire.... we bring you rare, inspired techno classics.

Octopus Music Radio Presents Funk D'Void & Sian

=Funk D'Void=

Lars Sandberg AKA Funk D'Void, is a DJ and producer who has been at the forefront of the global electronic music scene since the mid-90s. He started Djing at around the tender age of 15, running two under-18 clubs himself - a perfect start to his career. Then house music changed his life, the early Chicago sound specifically, and hearing the certain sounds during his childhood stirred something inside him; the 808 drum machine used on Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" secured his fascination with these electronic sounds - the turning point over to the Detroit techno sound was almost a spiritual moment as it forged his unique sound that would follow over the coming years - visceral, soulful and without compromise.

After a string of hits over the years ('Jack Me Off', 'Bad Coffee' 'Emotional Content') plus some killer remixes for the likes of Underworld, New Order and Kevin Saunderson, he is probably best known for the end-of-nighter 'Diabla' which bridged house and techno (and was flogged by everyone from Danny Howells to Sven Vath).
Much in demand DJ and critically acclaimed producer, his Djing style is everything you expect a true music lover's taste to be: he is comfortable and adept at moving any dance floor, the proof being that he is one of the busiest Djs on the circuit today, and has been for the last decade.

=Sian=

Born in Dublin Ireland, and raised gypsy style in southern Spain, moving from city to city, Sian chose to drop out of society and follow his calling. Music and the arts. An original Irish 'bad boy', the flamboyant and eccentric DJ/Producer is known for his unique flair behind the decks, Sian's DJ'ing adventures have spanned all continents and taken in some of the finest clubs and nights the scene has to offer. His releases and remixes on labels including Pokerflat, Soma, Mule, Aus and SCI+TEC have won him an army of fans.Resident at his Shake your bones party in Barcelona and as showcase artists for Weekend club Berlin, Sian also finds time to run Octopus, his own avant-garde techno label.

So here's the new mixes from Funk D'Void and his partner in crime Sian. And do not miss Sian's recent release OCTOPUS 8 which is occupying Lars' deck recently.

Soom to appear on Octopus with his outstanding remixes of the mysterious Exquisite Corpse duo,From Karaoke to Stardom is Jeremy Herpe, 33 year old french producer. Former guitarist, metal fan as a teenager, then into experimental rock and electronics and abstract hip hop, let's say his musical tastes are quite broad. Autechre & Warp made him buy a computer to start making his own music, then Plastikman, Sutekh, Mille Plateaux & Force Inc, going into clubs led him to do more four to the floor music without loosing sight of sound design, textures and intricate rhythms. His first ep was released in april 2006 on Rrygular, later that year came a few other ones, including his first ep on Apnea, Loopism Opossum, joining the Net28 family. Things started to get bigger in 2007, with his album on Rrygular "Undo Redo Weirdo" and a lot of gigs in Europe including clubs like Watergate in Berlin, Rex Club in Paris, Barcelona, Poland, Georgia, even Moscow, getting recognition not only as a producer but as a live act too. Since then he made a handful of releases on Apnea, Rrygular, Igloo and more recently on Dumb Unit, was featured in various compilations, on Net28, Esperanza, plus remixes on various labels, continuing to show his trippy yet powerful liveset all over Europe.
