Nordic Trax Presents: Deep In The House Radio

Hosted by NT's own Luke McKeehan, this channel features live sets from the Nordic Trax extended family as we delve deep into the many shades of underground house music. Stay tuned as well for some old-school Vancouver show archives which will make their way online for the first time ever!

Nestled deep in the Pacific Northwest, Nordic Trax has been kicking out
delicious deep house, downtempo and what not since 1995. Since then the label has released over thirty singles and ten full-length albums from artists including Gavin Froome, Tim Shumaker (a.k.a. Home & Garden), JT Donaldson, Jon Delerious, Joshua (Iz), Colette, Swayzak, Morgan Page, DJ Heather, Halo Varga, and Andrew Macari amongst others.

Label founder Luke McKeehan is a well recognized name in house circles these days. His mixed-cd, 'Lazy Transmissions' (2001), quickly became an NT best-seller while being released in over 20 territories abroad. The 2004 follow-up 'Many Shades of House' received a near-perfect 4.5/5 review from DJ Magazine, who boasted "The love affair continues with this latest Nordic Trax gem." Luke has been keepin' it real on the decks since 1985, in the process becoming one of Canada's most celebrated underground house DJs. He has DJ'd alongside such notable artists as Mark Farina, H-Foundation, DJ Heather, Gilles Peterson, Danny Tenaglia, Marques Wyatt, Little 'Louie' Vega, Doc Martin, Jazzanova, Diz and Ben Watt as well as opening for St. Germain, Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada, Jamiroquai and David Bowie to name only a few.

Rare groove - cassette tape mix from the 90s. Recorded 1996 to DAT.

Original note from facebook:
To celebrate an upcoming gig I had playing strictly vinyl rare groove, funk, soul, disco and all that other good stuff with Vinyl Ritchie, I uncovered the masters of a couple mixtapes from back in the 90's. The night was 'Back To The Lab', the location Chameleon Urban Lounge [r.i.p.]. My partner in crime on the night, the one & only original triple-threat Garret Louie aka GMAN. These are two promo mixes I did for the night. It was a monthly on Thursdays, and too many good deejays played there to mention. These tapes from me are just a taster, the music spans the 60's to the 90's -- and there is not a gram of house.

Warning if you have a short attention span and expect a mix every 30 seconds, you will be sorely disappointed. Back To The Lab is about the tunes. Kick back & enjoy.

Peace. Luke
Disco, nu-disco, house, deep house...it's all the same to me. Played 4 hours, here's a slice from the party.
