MYM w/ Dave Twomey aka Tr nch & Guests
* DAVE TWOMEY *

Dave's first gig was at Lakota in Bristol in 1998 as the paint was still drying after a 1 year refit of the infamous West country club. After a few years cutting his teeth in the student club scene in 2002 he won Muzik magazine's monthly mixing competition Bedroom Bedlam & with new confidence to change direction he moved Japan-wards. During his 8 year stay he held various residencies or his own parties at Yellow, Air, Womb, Colors Studio & Warehouse702 injecting a dose of the underground into the Tokyo scene; he managed Number 11 'Best DJ' for Loud magazine in 2004 & was resident for Global Underground in Tokyo amongst others. His 20's based in Tokyo also saw early tours to South America, Europe, South East Asia & more ...

A keen & prolific event organiser as well as DJ his events have been he says a 'chllanging, labour of love' over the years and his current focus MARIANA - deep, trippy & liquid techno events inspired by the Mariana Trench & its fearsome creatures - has been picking up momentum in a scene saturated by minimal and tech house. Early Tokyo events saw his MYM stable booking the likes of Falko Brocksieper, Oliver Hacke, Andrea Ferlin, Mark Henning, Reynold & Jeff Milligan, plus more recently for MARIANA / MARIANA DUB SESSIONS / MARIANA LIMITED the likes of Ben Klock, Kirk Degiorgio, Peter Van Hoesen, Kassem Mosse, Mike Parker, Delta Funktionen & MLZ among others.

Running since its Samurai.FM' launch, Dave's MYM RADIO show has featured the likes of Cobblestone Jazz, Peter Van Hoesen, DJ Nobu, Alex Smoke, Ryan Elliott, Dartrixx (aka Fumiya Tanaka & Radiq) & many many more over the years though currently on sabbatical. The MARIANA DUB SESSIONS podcast continues to spread its tentacles, originally started as an outlet for mixes of a deeper vein as well as Mariana residents and guest DJ sets (http://marianadubsessions.podomatic.com).

Dave is currently living in the UK and focusing on Tr nch production & podcasts. Dave's debut 12-inch under that alias is a collaboration with Okinawan IORI on Peter Van Hoesen's TIME TO EXPRESS. Described as 'mesmerising' with good reviews from the likes of Richard Brophy (DJ Mag), Max Bacharach (Resident Adviser), plus support by Horizontal Ground's AnD, Chris Liebing & Konrad Black among others.

MYM Extra 022 Feat. Marcel Fengler (Ostgut)

Marcel Fengler is currently resident at the heaven for debauchery that is the Berghaim in Berlin. Between gigs he is a busy man in the studio, recently releasing on Luke Slater's Mote Evolver label to rave reviews. Upcoming releases include a remix for the Skudge crew, Peter Van Hoesen & more plus Sept 29th sees his next release on Ostgut Ton 'picking up the thread' of Twisted Bleach, his 2nd Ostgut 12", released back in 2009. Watch out for his new label dropping in Spring 2011 & his debut Ostgut CD, pencilled in for late next year. Slightly off the usually beaten track for me this set reminds me a bit of Robert Hood & showcases a somewhat pacier & more old skool part of Marcel's varied taste … enjoy!

The full expression of UK-born Dave Twomey`s deep side, TR NCH is both a DJ alter-ego and production moniker. Pushing and pulling the dubby, 4am, bass-heavy, spacey, trippy warehouse-beginnings and influence of Berlin, Detroit & the UK, the Mariana Dub Sessions DJ sets explore techno since its inception - pulsating, throbbing soundscapes also that mirror the darkness & mystery of the the deepest place on earth, the Mariana trench in the Pacific Ocean. The Tr nch DJ set is a deep, ephemeral session of techno drawing on Dave's 20 year electronic music obsession & 12 year DJ career which has seen him travel to Russia, Argentina, China, Chile, Germany, Brasil & more.

Oliver Hacke has strongly contributed to the European nightlife (some would say: morning life) with his melodic, pop-esque take on minimal dance music. His numerous records for Trapez, Traum, Background and other German imprints show a unique, open positioning which was surprising but welcomed by both the academic minimal scene of the first years of the new millenium and the rest of the club scene (the people who actually dance). Oliver's DJ sets have surprisingly little to do with his productions, covering a wide spectrum from deep minimal to house across obscure disco to full-on techno. Carefully selected tracks from the different genres are arranged in a sardonic, satirical yet respectful way which keeps the crowd enjoying the music with multiple organs at the same time rather than just with the legs.
MYM Extra 024 feat Falko Brocksieper

New releases / upcoming!!!
Falko Brocksieper - Frantic Formula (Treibstoff #93, release date 18/Oct/2010)
Falko Brocksieper - Beau Rivage (Sub Static #76, release date 22/Nov/2010)

PROFILE
Falko Brocksieper first encountered electronic music in 1993 when attending numerous raves and clubs, and soon after he began acquiring his own skills as a DJ. The european rave-techno of the time was the initial counterpoint, after-which he discovered artists from Detroit, Chicago and the Midwest, such as Robert Hood, Woody McBride, Daniel Bell and Jeff Mills.

In 1997 he moved from his hometown to Cologne, where he gained further influences from the city's vibrant minimal-techno and electronica scene.
As he had already acquired experience with sequencing programs as a child on the Amiga 500, in 1999, during his studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and amidst various activities in media design, video art and installation, he decided to focus on electronic music production.

Falko Brocksieper's first vinyl record was released in 2001 on Sub Static label, which he founded in cooperation with Mia Grobelny at that time. Further releases quickly followed on labels such as Treibstoff, Tuning Spork, Resopal, Dumb Unit and Tongut. In 2003 he put out his first album "Hoax Deluxe", refining his style between hypnotic minimalism and an edgy analog sound. With his unique sound, he became high in demand as a remixer and produced remixes for Akufen, Basteroid, Gabriel Ananda, Dirt Crew, Sid LeRock, Dapayk & Padberg, Benjamin Fehr and many more.

In 2003 he founded his second label, Karloff Rekordings, with the intention of providing a seperate playground for more experimental musical approaches to techno and house. With over 100 releases altogether so far, Sub Static and Karloff have become renowned brands in electronic music today.

Falko Brocksieper moved to Berlin in 2004, in order to infuse fresh energy in his music production and record labels and he released his second album "Heavy Day" in 2008.
With the release of 'Heavy Day', Brocksieper used the album tour as an opportunity to bring about his first ever live sets which he continues to perform together with over 10 years experience as an international DJ.
