London Underground presents Claude Young - Ultramix
1991年以来、多くのデトロイトのテクノアーティストたちと長きに渡って活動をともにしてきたClaude Youngは、かの地のシーンにあって不可欠な存在であると言えるだろう。元々は、デトロイトのWHYTというラジオ局で週末の番組のDJとしてキャリアをスタートしたClaudeは、そのハウス、テクノ、ャEル、ヒップ・ホップ、そしてディスコが見事に融合したプレイセットで、すぐさまその名を知られるようになる。そして、様々なイベントでもプレイするようになったClaudeは、その独特なスクラッチの才狽ﾉよって評価をどんどん広げ、地元を飛び出してアメリカ各地、そしてついには世界中からオファーが来る存在へとなっていくのである。
一方のスタジオワークにおいても、Kevin Saundersonらとの共同制作でキャリアを積んだ彼は、自らの作品のリリースも精力的に行うようになり、今までに14を超えるレーベルから作品をリリースし、また、Terrence ParkerやMijk Can Dijkといったアーティストとのコラボレーションも多数行ってきた。
1996年には、ヨーロッパからのオファーが増えたことから、渡航の負担を和らげるためにロンドンへと移住。更に2001年にはTunnel Clubでの新たなイベント”True People”においてマンスリー・レジデントを務めるために、グラスゴーへと移住する。
世界中から絶え間ないオファーを受け、その長いキャリアを通じて高い人気を維持し続けているClaude Young。その伝説的とも言えるターンテーブル・テクニックと共に、今後も目を離すことが出来ない存在である事は間違いない。
