Charlemagne Palestine Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Charlemagne Palestine Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Charlemagne Palestine is probably the most legendary among the great masters of the American Minimal Music. Apart from the creations of La Monte Young, Terry Riley, Steve Reich and Philip Glass, Charlemagne Palestine, after a first phase of intense research to define his musical language, preferred to dedicate his creativity in the visual arts field. This choice sadly cut him out of the musical world for years. Today, his music consists of long tracks per solo piano. Compositions are deeply strong and intense, the acoustic sound of the piano, thanks to a hypnotical technique, becomes the sound of an entire Orchestra full of harmonics.

Robert Henke Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Robert Henke Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Monolake's Robert Henke has already dipped his toes twice into more drone-based sound environments, now he comes back with this amazing "Layering Buddha", an epic dissection of the FM3' Buddha Machine and its sonic capabilities. Henke is a master of scene-setting, within the restraints of the drone-based pieces, One starts to sense he's pushing his sonic vocabulary further than before, away from the unique metalic beats of his Monolake alter ego. He finds a breathless and slowly evolving musical vocabulary frozen in time, reflecting on the scenery at hand in slow motion.

Appleblim Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Appleblim Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Appleblim's music is consistently providing us with an entry into the darker recesses of the dubstep psyche and constantly upping the ante in a sometimes slow moving scene requiring new directions and ideas. Interpreting the mandate of dubstep generate a new creation method for fresh physical movements on the dancefloor (read: not plodding halfstep monotony), Appleblim has reached a new pinnacle with his beat programming by creating a wide open B.C influenced electro-stepper intended for deep dancefloor interpretations.

Pierre Bastien Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Pierre Bastien Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

The Pierre Bastien's concept is outrageously tantalising : a robotic Meccano orchestra plays an array of traditional musical instruments. Far more agreeable than its Wallace & Grommit origins might have you believed, Pierre Bastien has managed to take a pretty anal concept then massage it into a pleasing conclusion, proving his music can be experimental without immediately sacrificing the listener at the alter of indulgant-bollockius. The resulting sound is one of broken bluegrass, blues and Musique Concrete which combine to create an amazingly cohesive and alluring organic atmosphere.

Fujiya + Miyagi Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Fujiya + Miyagi Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

"Fujiya and Miyagi have earned much attention following the release of their debut album, a unique blend of electronic mastery and a deep pop sensibility keeping them in good stead for underground mass appeal. The imagined, illicit love between a Japanese hi-tech turntable company and the Karate Kid's bearded maharishi begets the misleadingly tropical moniker of Brighton's marvellous Fujiya and Miyagi : Proceeding with a distinctly Krautish feel, the production insert intricacies and synths with a wash of micro-electroid ideas that Fujiya and Miyagi have become so perfect at constructing."

Chateau Flight Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Chateau Flight Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Chateau Flight is the collaboration between Nicolas Chaix aka I:Cube and Gilbert Cohen aka Gilb'r - Cohen has been running the Versatile label for a decade-plus, and the two of them together have been responsible for some fantastic dance music throughout that time. From krautrock frayed beats and analogue workouts, to progtastic breakdowns and laid-back house excursions, Chateau Flight music happily exists on its own terms. Somewhere at the border of electronic music, the quality and the diversity of the tracks speak for the production skills of the two crazy French music lovers. Quality pop dance nuggets to suit every taste !

Pigna People Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Pigna People Live @ Les Siestes Electroniques 2007

Marco Passarani alongside Francesco de Bellis (Jolly Music, Mr Cisco) and Mario Pierro (also Jolly Music, Raider of the Lost Arp) formed the Pigna People; a hoola-hooping mixture of electro, block-party hip-hop, acid funk, italio disco and original techno. In the words of those good people at Vice magazine, its "the kind of soft-focus retro-futurist affair you'd ideally play in your car as you cruise into the distance past mirrored buildings illuminated by neon graphics on an empty carriageway after you've just broken up with your girlfriend..."
