Jarring Effects
Jarring Effects is a Lyon -France- based independent label, born in 1993. Known for its talented bands and live acts such as High Tone, Brain Damage, Ben Sharpa, Playdoe, Scorn or Ez3kiel Jarring Effects is also recognized as the leading label in the internationally acclaimed french dub and electronic scene. But JFX's catalogue offers a wide range of electronic music, from Dub to Breaks to indus and indie Hip Hop. For a couple of years the label also provides fine and exciting music from all over the world from the likes of Filastine, famous south african MC Ben Sharpa, Sibot, Playdoe, Scorn (UK) or Oddateee (US).

The label also runs others activities such as the 10 editions old Riddim Collision festival (Lyon), a recording studio and a booking agency. Digital arts linked to music and visual creation are spreading over the label productions. At the same time, the Jarring Effects crew does its best to keep vinyl alive by pressing some for most of its productions, while exploring new distribution networks and opportunities through the independent labels federation cd1d.com the label co-founded.

Jarring Effectsはフランスのリヨンをホームとするインディレーベルで、１９９３年にスタートした。High Tone, Brain Damage, Interlopeといった才能あるバンドやライヴアクト、イケてるＤＪを抱えてることで知られている。またJarring Effectsは海外でも認められたフレンチダブとエレクトロシーンの第一線を行くレーベルとしても有名だ。しかしJFXのカタログは幅広いエレクトロタイトルのほかにもダブやブレイク、インダストリアルやインディヒップホップも揃っている。ここ２年は世界から選りすぐったFilastine, 南アフリカのトップMC Ben Sharpa, Sibot, Playdoe, Scorn (UK)やOddateee (US)といったアーティストを紹介してきている。

このレーベルはまた１０回目を数えるリヨンのRiddim Collision festivalをオーガナイズしたりレコーディングスタジオの運営そしてブッキングエージェンシーも行っている。デジタルアートは音楽とリンクしているしヴィジュアルはレーベルの制作物を広めるのに役立っている。同時にJarring Effectsのクルーたちはヴァイナルの存続活動にも勤しんでいて、リリースの殆どはヴァイナルでもプレスしているほか、共同で立ち上げたインディレーベルfederation cd1d.comを通して新しいディストリビューションのネットワークや間口を広げたりと忙しい。

High Tone - Out Back
Three years after impressive «Underground Wobble» album followed up by 100% dub vinyl releases Dub Box and Dub Invaders, High Tone comes back with a new little gem. Definitely plentiful this fifth album is declined through 2 Cds, as different as complementary, showing how rich and diverse the band’s influences are. Though, those heavy broken bassline, those nervous ethnic scratches or this mystical melodica are impossible to confuse with other artists.

CD 1, « Dub Axiome » offers a dub music always so rich but clearly more turn towards dancefloor. Filled with wicked energy, nu-dub and digital sounds (Spank, Dirty Urban Beat) answer to
amazing tunes like “Liqor” featuring New-York MC Oddateee and confirm those 8 tracks will replete international sound-systems.
On the other hand, « No Border »

(CD2) creates more cinematic atmospheres where electronic
fields are more discrete (Space Rodeo, Bastard, Home Way) and leave more space to acoustic instruments. Tracks are quietly stretched out, tell stories and develop crazy psychedelic trips where only High Tone is able to make you fly. Out Back will be a masterpiece of the huge High Tone discography so listen to it and pump up the volume.
