iCrates presets Bottin

samurai.fm introduces iCrates session number 13 and a new mix from the Venetian disco mastermind Bottin.

Bottin has been on something of a roll when it comes to his own releases and the quality of his mixes which makes even the lousiest dancer look pretty slick.

In "Disco for the Family" he takes us out to the deeper roots of Italian disco of the late Seventies til the early Eighties starting of with Gianni Morandi passing along classics like "The Ring" with their powerful "Savage Lover" and such hard hitters as "Paul Sabu“ with the instrumental b-side of is 12 inch shotgun release from 1983 to end finally typical italian with "La Famiglia" and their 1979 release "Musicosanostra".

Bottin, keep it comin...

Here comes DJ Cup of Jazz with an exclusive mix for iCrates: Hearing the word „Big Band“ most people may only think of Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington. But of course there are a lot more interesting Big Band leaders that made amazing recordings and arrangements. To introduce a few of them here comes a selection of 23 Big Band tunes. All recordings were released (or reissued) on vinyl.
One virtuoso on the turntables, one on the piano: Check out this incredible live show by Marc Hype and Jim Dunloop recorded in Copenhagen. A funky step further in creating music live...
This time Dj Rute brings us Saudade...a one hour ride full of tracks that mean more than missing someone...
As Rute describes it herself: "Music that means more than words...Listen to it and you will know what it means...Do you feel it?"

Well, nothing more to say for now...
DJ Rute, bang it on....!
This mix is a small journey from what Salysol Muzik likes to play.
Eclectic music like Disco, Boogie, New Wave, Balearic and House Music......
They love and know Music that’s the point!
So here we are with the 11th installment of our Vinyl Only sessions and the last one in our resistance music issue.
Its DJ Sofa from belgium on the Decks who likes to play music for drunk people...
Well, well we tried that and must admit that his tunes really fit heavy alcoholic situations.
DJ Sofa have been on something of a roll when it comes to the quality of his mixes which make highly rare music sound pretty accessible.
This mix is all about Resistance Music and Musical Resistance with Dj Sofas very own flavor.
Starting of with Eddie Maelov And Sunshine Patteson epic track „Lines“ he wanders his way through unbareable deep crates to Pump and their track „Dance Without Music“ to reach such musical fields as the Einstürzende Neubauten vs. The normal and The Honymoonkillers. A one hour epic full of records mostly never heard and, as ever, totally on point. Top draw.
DJ Sofa, keep digging!
This mix is all about a big musical concept called "The One". "Everything's gotta be on the one" or "keep it on the one" is a way of saying "this shit better be tight". In terms of the band, it meant the solid foundation, based around the first beat of the bar, over which musicians would take turns to solo. Defined by James Brown in the late 60s, this concept inspired many, many musicians, a good representation of these artists have been put together in this little mix here. "The One" has been around for ever and is the backbone of popular music. It deserves some respect... so there!
