Osaka Invasion Live @ Sonar 2008

Osaka Invasion Featuring:

DJ Scotch Egg
Chiptune, or music made using video game consoles, has one of its leading advocates in Scotch Egg. This UK-based Japanese followed the advice of his friend and collaborator Shitmat to the letter when he was encouraged to create gabber tunes with a simple Game Boy. Today, a vast catalogue on first class labels such as Wrong Music, Adaadat and Load Records (owned by Lightning Bolt) shows that it wasn't a bad idea. A warning - he usually rounds off his shows by throwing scotch eggs (deep-fried hard-boiled eggs) at the audience...

Maruosa
The chief of Renda Records and one of the most hyperactive artists on the Osaka underground, Maruosa brings together the Japanese noisist tradition of Hanatarash and Masonna with the rhythmic punch of breakcore and his fascination with the more brutal edge of punk and metal. His latest release, the overwhelming "Exercise and Hell," is an ode to satanic gabber, distorted breaks and sonic perversion, which is as destructive as the rest of his catalogue.

Bogulta
A tireless duo who don't need much to get the party started wherever they are: they are shredders of influences and styles, whose mixture of punk, electro, rock, new wave and pumped-up chaos is a perfect recreation of the unmatched spirit of the sounds from the land of the rising sun.

Ove Naxx
With an approach that is considerably less dark (or a lot more humorous) than that of the majority of artists in the breakcore generation, Isao Sano mercilessly shreds fragments of death metal, j-pop, dancehall, animal sounds and the rhythms of Latin music, in a whirlwind of straight-up polyrhythms and sonic terrorism that is as entertaining as it is energetic.
