Groovepressure Presents Two Lone Swordsmen
Groovepressure was started by Robin Ball in 1998 as a record label releasing electro, technofunk & house music. Soon after he started a sister label by the name of Groovepressure Jazz Collection which concentrated on electronic music with a jazz twist. In 2002 brother label Groove Pleasure arose which was made to concentrate solely on house music leaving Groovepressure to carry on with the tech-electro sound. All 3 projects run as club nights around Europe under their respective names.
Now after 18 months of the Groove Pleasure Radio Show that has showcased music from some of the world's best electronic artists Robin now brings his 2 other label projects to Samurai fm. We kick off the new Groovepressure show with exclusive mixes by two pioneers of electronic music in the UK, Andrew Weatherall and Keith Tenniswood.
Andrew Weatherall
One of the UK's true electronic innovators Andrew has been an influential figure from the begining of the acid house scene. His projects have included Boys Own, Blood Sugar, Sabresonic, Sabres of Paradise and, probably most famously of all, his production of the classic Primal Scream LP Screamadelica.
Keith Tenniswood (Radio Active Man)
Destiny took charge when Keith met up with Andrew Weatherall and The Sabres Of Paradise at nightclubs like 'The Drum Club', 'Full Circle' and 'Sabresonic' and began working with Weatherall manipulating sound on the Sabres tour.
Remaining an integral part in the Weatherall studio set up since then it seemed a natural step that upon the demise of Sabres, Weatherall and Tenniswood should arise from the debris and form their own production team, the Two Lone Swordsmen. In 1996 they released their first album together as the Swordsmen, entitled 'The Fifth Mission-Return To The Flightpath Estate' on Weatherall's own Emissions imprint and have since recorded for Warp Records.
Keith released his debut album titled 'Radioactive Man' on Weatherall's new label, Rotters Golf Club, in September 2001 with the album receiving many plaudits, (amongst them, 'One of the UK's most underrated DJ/producers') establishing him as a producer in his own right.
Two Lone Swordsmen
On their latest album 'From The Double Gone Chapel' TLS have reinvented themselves as a noir-ish rock & roll-electro-dub-post-punk-psychobilly live band and the big news is that Two Lone Swordsmen are currently touring live. These are the first live shows that Weatherall has done since the Sabres of Paradise days in the mid-90s.
