Rob McDowell Live @ Green Man Festival 2006

Rob McDowall is a DJ who resides on the eastern slopes of the Malvern Hills, not far from the Big Chill site at Eastnor Deer Park. Refusing to be tied down to any particular genre, his DJ sets are eclectic, down-tempo affairs that join the dots between jazz, electronica, ambient, alt folk, hip hop and afrobeat, as well as exploring the experimental and leftfield avenues of modern music.

In 2006 he has DJ'd at the Borderlines Film Festival, (with MASH Cinema at the launch of the Hereford Future Shorts Programme), the Green Man Festival and at the recent ABC Mini Chill Festival.

This recording of his set at the Green Man Festival in August, journeys through contemporary alternative folk, pyschedelia and folktronica. Featuring recent tracks by UK folktronica artists, US Alt folkers and an obligatory homage to Pentangle, his debut Samurai FM mix is a good starting point for anyone unfamiliar with today's new folk movement.

"Rob McDowall is one of those rare DJ's that crosses genres with consistently good results. Skillfully providing an education in eclectic modern music."

OLO Radio was an internet radio show hosted by OLO Worms (Fence Records) and featured guest mixes by Vetiver, James Yorkston, Minotaur Shock and Steve Mason.

After 5 years of broadcasting (live and in podcast form) OLO Radio called it a day in August 2010.

The mix was based on my set at the Green Man Festival 2007.
