Continuum with Rob McDowall
Rob McDowall's DJ sets join the dots between alt-folk and electronica as well as exploring the experimental and leftfield avenues of modern music.

Notable appearances include the Green Man Festival (2006-08), Drop Beats Not Bombs, ABC Minichill and the Borderlines Film Festival, where he has DJ’d alongside Guto (Super Furry Animals), ‘Professor’ Justin Spear (BBC 6Music’s Freakzone), The Earlies and Nick Luscombe (BBC Radio 3 Late Junction/Flomotion).

Rob McDowell Live @ Green Man Festival 2006

Refusing to be tied down to any particular genre, Rob McDowall's DJ sets are eclectic, down-tempo affairs that join the dots between alt-folk, ambient and electronica as well as exploring the experimental and leftfield avenues of modern music.

In 2006 he has DJ'd at the Borderlines Film Festival, (with MASH Cinema at the launch of the Hereford Future Shorts Programme), the Green Man Festival and at the recent ABC Mini Chill Festival.

This recording of his set at the Green Man Festival in August, journeys through contemporary alternative folk, pyschedelia and folktronica. Featuring recent tracks by UK folktronica artists, US Alt folkers and an obligatory homage to Pentangle, his debut Samurai FM mix is a good starting point for anyone unfamiliar with today's new folk movement.

"Rob McDowall is one of those rare DJ's that crosses genres with consistently good results. Skillfully providing an education in eclectic modern music."

The Green Man Festival is an independent music festival set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons in Wales.

It has evolved from a one-day, 300 capacity event in 2003, to a 10,000 capacity non-corporate and ethically-minded three-day festival with five stages.

Whilst the festival is 100% independent, it still draws a brilliant line up of performers each year, spanning the music spectrum - including indie, psychedelia, Americana, electronica and folk, as well as DJs playing everything from electro to stoner rock.

Recorded at the Green Man Festival in 2008, Rob McDowall's DJ set joins the dots between alt-folk, electronica and psychedelia.
