RightRightRight
Right Right Right was founded in 2006 by Dr Rob & Matt Best, with the aim of providing an alternative to the New York-orientated House that seemed to dominate Tokyo venues at that time. Not that there`s anything wrong with New York-orientated House, but everyone knows there`s a world of music out there. Matt and Rob wanted to create a night that gave them and their guests the opportunity to play music that they love but that “peak-time” slots might not allow. Gigs at Chef Marbo`s Tokyo Balearic, Air, Loop, Seco, Solfa, Eleven have followed. 2010 finds Matt working with Barney in Hong Kong on RRR Part 2, while Bar Jam in Tokyo Ebisu (www.barjam.jp) is now manned by Eypher, Kagi, Shin & DJJ with regular guests from the Japanese underground & overground. If you fancy a shot, drop one of us a line. It`s not about “skills” but interesting music.

A big thank you to everyone who has listened to the shows and mixes here on Samurai.Fm. All your feedback is greatly appreciated. It really helps to know someone is listening.

For more music, and some words from me, please also check http://testpressing.org/ and you can now also catch me live (ish) every Saturday evening 20:00-21:00 Japanese time (12 noon til 1pm GMT) on FM Karuizawa 77.5 MHz on a show called The Remedy. (streamed at http://fm-karuizawa.net/remedy.html - archived here - http://samurai.fm/the-remedy - facebook here - http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Remedy/203632553014866 - and twitter @TheRemedy1).

Much Love, Dr Rob April 2011

March 11 2012, the first anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake, in remembrance of the in excess of 22, 000 people who lost their lives and the tens of thousands more who lost their families, homes and livelihood, I`ve put together three selections of music made by Japanese artists – this one is Japanese Funk, Rock and New Wave - classic Japanese fusion and disco – can be found on the Lone Star page of Samurai.FM – later today a selection of chilled Japanese obscurities will be posted at www.testpressing.org
I put this together at the same time as the Haroumi Hosono “Producer” compilation for Test Pressing.

While we love Sakamoto, Paul and I both agreed that he was more of an Artist than a Producer, but since I had the records to hand I thought I`d post this here. Some of my favourite Sakamoto moments.

Riot In Lagos was one of the first records I bought. From Sounds Good in South Norwood.
Maybe not our usual thing, but I`m posting this because of the recent passing of Shem McCauley, DJ Streetsahead. Shem was big influence on me back when I would spend my time taping LWR shows, saving my money from working at Safeway to buy Imports from Soho`s Groove records, and my Saturdays breaking in Charing Cross Tube station. Hearing Shem cut-up Visage`s “Pleasure Boys” at Spatz blew my mind. It still does blow my mind. Sound quality of this is rough, but I wanted to do something in tribute. RIP Shem.

* I also have a 30 minute tape of Shem live at Spatz, with the aforementioned “Pleasure Boys”. The sound quality is even worse, but if there is interest I will also post that.
