iCrates presets Bottin

samurai.fm introduces iCrates session number 13 and a new mix from the Venetian disco mastermind Bottin.

Bottin has been on something of a roll when it comes to his own releases and the quality of his mixes which makes even the lousiest dancer look pretty slick.

In "Disco for the Family" he takes us out to the deeper roots of Italian disco of the late Seventies til the early Eighties starting of with Gianni Morandi passing along classics like "The Ring" with their powerful "Savage Lover" and such hard hitters as "Paul Sabu“ with the instrumental b-side of is 12 inch shotgun release from 1983 to end finally typical italian with "La Famiglia" and their 1979 release "Musicosanostra".

Bottin, keep it comin...

samurai.fm presents Ink Project

samurai.fm presents Ink Project

Ink Project consist of Melanie Dymond on vocals/production and Jez Lloyd on keys and production. Latest AA single 'Rewind Forward Reply' is a precursor to their full album, set for release later this year.

Their new single 'Rewind Forward Replay' is a futuristic take on electronic soul. Adopting elements of dubstep, broken beat and garage with influences of artists such as Four Tet, Mount Kimbie and Bonobo, Melanie's introspective lyrics contrast with her sultry vocal style.

The double A single is completed by 'Black Honey', a hypnotic, downtempo track. While it would be incorrect to mention "tr*p-h*p"; the spirit of MoWax and classic Bristol acts Massive Attack, Smith & Mighty and Tricky pervades throughout.

Ink Project released their debut single 'Call On Me' on eight:FX Records in June and have since had support from DJs including Gilles Peterson and MistaJam. Recent live summer gigs have included the Sonar Festival in Barcelona, Jazz Refound Festival in Italy, Cargo and Notting Hill Arts Club in London.

samurai.fm presents Dachambo

samurai.fm presents Dachambo

Dachambo is a psychedelic and alternative band with six members featuring twin drums and Didgeridoo. They are currently a very successful drawing attention from all areas as an upcoming artist in the Japanese jam bands scene.

Dachambo handle their music management themselves and perform at many of the outdoor festivals in Japan such as Nagisa and Sunset Live in Fukuoka. One of the most important festivals that they played recently is Asia's biggest, the Fuji Rock Festival.

They love and appreciate all types of world and international music, which have been greatly influencing their music style. The floating digital sounds, the roar of Didgeridoo, and the deep bass with a dancing guitar… They continue pursuing the possibilities of sounds through jam, tribal, latin, organic, funk, and many other genres of music.

They are especially good at blending diverse sounds into alternative dance music. They make you realize there is no boundary in the music world once you experience their phenomenal live performance.

Scott Murphy Christmas Mixes

Scott Murphy Christmas Mixes

S. Murphy lives in a cold part of Canada. Most nights during the holidaze you can find him inside his freezing basement office with a heater beside him listening, dancing and digging holiday music.

This is his best selection of Holiday music ever but that's not saying much because he has no real technical talent. Who cares - he understands what makes good music. If you can't stand Christmas music then you might like some of this.

It's Christmas music to get you in the mood for the holidays.

Smurphy's influence and Idol is the great Mr. Christmas of NYC.

A very Smurphy Christmas to you and remember the television is not a babysitter.
This selection of holiday music includes classics, funk, blues, soul and rare christmas music. Thanks for listening.

Peter Digital Orchestra live @ Dour 2010

Having brought his vibrations to fans from Brest to Detroit, passing via Sofia and Vilnius, Peter Digital is back with a maximum of energy. Peter Digital's funk is heavier than ever, though still what has been termed as bumpy/wonky and breaky. The moustachioed French electro star with the oiled coiffure still surprises the crowds with his cocky show.

Straight Goods Afrika Bambaataa Special

Straight Goods Afrika Bambaataa Special

During this spring tour, Afrika Bambaataa stopped by Vancouver BC and sat down with Straight Goods Radio hosts Jay & Flipout to talk about Hip Hop. What would Hip Hop be without Afrika Bambaataa, one third of the holy trinity of the culture alongside Grandmaster Flash and Kool Herc? Bam with the Zulu Nation is the most influential and important organization in Hip Hop culture. Bambaataa spoke with the ease and the confidence of a tribal figure head that he is and declared that in 2010, Hip Hop is alive. I highly suggest you have a pen and pad by your side as you listen because he gives a musical history lesson from a primary source point of view. To put it simply, he was there in the beginning. I'm talking about the very beginning, when Hip Hop was born. He's the Godfather of Hip Hop, Afrika Bambaataa.

Rock it don't stop!
