Metamorphose presents Larry Heard

Metamorphose presents Larry Heard

Larry Heard is a Chicago House legend, and a well known musician who brought intellect into house music, but it is less well known that he used to be a part of several R&B, rock and jazz-fusion bands as a drummer in late '70s to early '80s. Because he was a drummer, he never had the chance to participate in composing music, which later on motivated him to leave the bands and buy himself up-to-date electric instruments. Those were the classic Roland Jupiter 6 synthesizer, Roland TR-909 rhythm machine, and his legendary tune “Can You Feel It” under the alias Mr Fingers was brought to life in 1986, and is still being packed in DJs bag after 24 years!.

Starting with "Seven Ways to Jack" by Hercules, we have received his exclusive Chicago / Detroit mix to promote the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Japan festival Metamorphose on this coming Saturday, Sep. 4th, held at the Cycle Sports Center Izu, and Larry Heard will be there at the Planet stage 26:30-28:00.

If you have a chance to be there, you might be lucky enough to hear Larry singing along to “Can You Feel It”.
World Beats with Nicole Moudaber

World Beats with Nicole Moudaber

From Nigeria via Lebanon, New York and Ibiza, DJ and producer Nicole Moudaber is the rising star who’s been at the heart of the dance scene since electronic beats took over the globe in the early ‘90’s. She’s made her way to the decks and into the studio after years spent getting swept away to the music of the world’s biggest DJ names in some of the best clubs in New York, bringing rave to Beirut with her Trashy Renaissance parties, booking huge names for the Soundworx nights at London’s legendary Turnmills and running Southeast Recordings. Nicole’s decision to move onto producing and spinning the driving, sexy beats she loves has surprised and thrilled her heavyweight industry colleagues, Carl Cox snapped up her productions for his Intec label as well as Steve Lawler for his VIVa label and a ‘proud’ hero Danny Tenaglia was so impressed after DJ’ing alongside her he declared “One day, I hope to open for you”.

Nicole Moudaber presents the first episode of her new World Beats podcast series. While distinctly dark and driving, her sets blend deep techno with groovier rhythms perfect for main room dance floor action.

Deep Inside Show presents Solomun August 2010

Deep Inside Show presents Solomun August 2010

The Hamburg-based, Bosnian-born Croatian Solomun has played a major role in redefining European house music in recent years via productions, remixes and DJing which take the very building blocks of house and deftly reconstruct them with a decidedly modern twist.

This contribution to house is partly drawn from a hefty touring schedule gracing the worlds finest clubs alongside an impeccable string of tracks and remixes for the likes of Buzzin Fly, Freerange, Get Physical, Phil E, Mobilee, Dessous, Compost, Four:Twenty and his own Diynamic imprint but it doesn't stop there.
Having started Diynamic just five years ago alongside long-term friend Adriano Trolio, Solomun has set about developing and nurturing his outlets for music as the music itself. Now, Diynamic enjoys the sort of reverence usually reserved for labels three times its age and has been instrumental in allowing some of the new talents in electronic music to shine. Stimming, HOSH, Ost and Kjex, David August, Uner and Solomun himself are just a handful of the artists who have benefitted from their output being wrapped in the label’s distinctive sleeves and the Diynamic appeal shows no sign of waning.

fabric presents Zero T

fabric presents Zero T

In the world of drum & bass, a scene all too often segregated by superficially constructed genre confines, Zero T stands as a figurehead for a new breed of producers tearing down these boundaries and building from the ground up, creating a more open musical plane. By setting his own parameters, Zero T not only explores the full spectrum of sounds within D&B, but expands beyond it with his forward-thinking, intricately textured and overtly musical sound. It comes as little wonder that Zero T's absorbed such a plethora of wide-spanning influences that diffuse through his own music, amalgamating to create something unique and, in a word, peerless.

This excellent promo mix from Zero T supports the release of his brand new FABRICLIVE 52: compilation CD

Dave Segal writes: "...[Miss Shelrawka] brings an East Coast energy and grittiness to her techno and house mixes. They're also incredibly sexy, featuring much percolating hand percussion; swiveling, loin-engorging bass lines; cooing, groaning, and sighing vocals; and ass-smacking beats ....-a low-slung, funky, tribal strain of minimal techno-with excellent aesthetics and technique...." -- DATA BREAKER 10/2009
