Various venues / Belgrade / Serbia
October 29th - November 8th 2009

Serbia's only and one of the leading events of its kind in SE Europe, Dis-patch festival in Belgrade is celebrating its 8th edition this autumn, with a redefined format, specially commissioned programs, satellite events and a diverse music line-up. The festival is presenting two very special guests this year: Vladislav Delay as Artist in Focus, and Lillevan Pobjoy as Artist in Residence. Both artists will have an extensive stay in Belgrade, not just performing but working with local artists and presenting brand new projects. Delay's Focus program will see him performing as many as five times over the course of the event in different projects (Vladislav Delay with Lillevan, Agf/Dlay, Uusitalo, Kinovida and Vladislav Delay Quartet, featuring Lucio Capece, MIka Vainio and Derek Shirley), as well as presenting the premiere string of his first public sound art project - The Only Copy. Furthermore, as part of this special stay in Belgrade, Delay's Quartet formation will be recording their debut album in the vintage studios of Radio Belgrade! Among other activities, the acclaimed video artist Lillevan Pobjoy will be working with Belgrade-based Incredible Bob on the Patherns project, a collaboration based on the output of the kinetic art's pioneer Victor Vasarely.

The festival will be spread over three weekends and more than five venues across the city center (main core of the program in the period Oct 29th - Nov 8th) with lead-in events, such as the Kid's-patch festival dedicated to "new children's creativity", unfolding from early October. The line-up is, as each year, a diverse patchwork of styles, disciplines and approaches, moving from tight grooves and stories of Kode 9 & The Spaceape, Kim Hiorthoy or Secondo, over smooth ambiances of AM/PM towards precise beats and noises of the Raster-Noton label represented by Byetone and a solo concert of MIka Vainio. The festival will be rounded up on Nov 8th with the eagerly-awaited first appearance of the legendary Finnish duo Pan Sonic in Belgrade. The previous evening, festival's founders Belgradeyard Sound System will celebrate their 10th anniversary of music activism via a bass-heavy event featuring Kode 9 & The Spaceape live, a rare set from T++, local upcomers K.O.F.Y and Felony Flats and more... Don't forget to also count in film screenings, off-parties, panels, lectures, workshops and special surprises for an intense extended week in Serbia's capital, known for its rich and vibrant cultural and night life.
