Defected Presents Charles Webster

Defected Presents Charles Webster

Charles Webster is one of the most accomplished electronic producers and remixers in the UK. With a long history of productions, remixes all starting with engineering for some of the best names in techno.

Now into his second decade as a true innovator in the electronic music scene, Charles Webster is one of the few real mould-breakers in an increasingly stale and predictable dance music world -although whether he should really ever be pigeonholed as a dance artist is another debate.

This mix, a reflection of his new retrospective and rarities album released now on Defective and a recent episode of the marvelous new Miso Mix radio show on samurai.fm, a weekly show presenting Chalres musical meanderings along with output from his label Miso Records.

The label has a global approach to music it releases where the only criteria for a Miso release is quality, hence it ranges from the 21st century blues of 'Lo:Rise', to the African rhythms of 'Nutty', to the complex soundscapes of Mat Jarvis aka 'High Skies'. The label features strong vocal contributions from leading singers including Sarah Jay and Sophie Moleta as well as collaborations and remixes with artists including Pepe Bradock, Herbert, Manitoba, Atjazz, Brooks, Vincenzo, Clive Astin, Todd Sines, and Dean deCosta.

As this diverse mix of artists indicates, finely crafted artist albums supported by live shows will prove to be Miso's purpose. Along the way, look out for compilation releases and collectible 12" singles that will always keep one eye on the discerning dance floor.
