2011 has been a strong year full of musical discoveries.
be it in jazz, crossover electronic goes band stuff and also very good pop music
came along. all artists, keep on delivering - and we'll keep spreading then.

and just when you think all is being delivered another strong album arrives - real hip hop
by the roots. go and get the album, this is one for rap and hip hop history.

massive remix for scuba this time, little dragon next time. and song of the year?
lana del rey is definately up there, about time to give you the strong joy orbison remix.
plus a very beautiful winter flower which grew already in summer this year and a stunning remix
by burnt friedman, doin the shangaan shake. kickin off with another project:mooncircle gem btw . . .
this label is getting better and better. and finishing my little warm up set for the spiritual drums session
with a great piano player from armenia. highly recommended album !

this is not a 2011 rewind though. just another spontaneous soulsearching excursion.

and what can i say about the mix this week - the heavy hitters on the jazz drums,
from max roach to tony allen and roy haynes plus chester thompson and of course
steve reid. all in, 61 minutes of pure energy. listen very loud. big thanks to the man,
nick woodmansey aka emanative for this journey to the spiritual drums.

getting ready for 2012 with so much inspiration floatin in.

as winter is arriving here in frankfurt we are taking a ride into the warmer regions this week, introducing manilas heavy boogie crew via their brilliant humidity deep mixtape. speaking about kristian hernandez and ms. badkiss who run things in the capital of the philippines music and clubwise. check out the regular heavy boogie & gotsoul parties as well as the malisimbo music & arts festival in 2012 when you are down there. big thanks to both of them for their more party orientated mix and a bunch of tunes that i haven't heard of yet. nice stuff.

out of my box a selection of what i am into at the moment, just music, you know....more by dirg gerner from his vinyl only preface ep, an exclusive live recording courtesy of josé james (heavy band, man ! can't wait to see / hear you in 2012 on a stage here), more dillon, more gerry read, a bit of forthcoming heavy stuff by the portico quartet, a deep mark e mix for azymuth, oldschool vibes out of cologne for compost and a little sunflower in wintertime by jerker kluge's deep jazz formation.

. . . fully into this foggy & sunny autumn november mood, music to make you feel warm and comfortable, and you can dance if you want to . . . loads of new stuff floating around, brilliant remixes by Theo Parrish for Far Out and Alex Barck with his excellent work for Little Dragon plus the new heavy version of the Steve Reid (R.I.P.) signature tune by emanative and soulful electronics with Lee Burton out of Greece. fLako slowly becoming a regular on this program, he is one of the most talented producers around right now, a sweet little song by Dillon out of Berlin, a very young upcoming producer out of the UK, who has learned his Theo P lessons very very well, Gerry Read, rounding things off wih a brandnew Blundetto version of a classic and a bit of left of center HipHop plus replay for one of THE tunes of 2011: 1960 What?

Then into a different flavour, Blues and Rythm & Blues is the word with Marcel Vogels Blue Tape.
Here's a little note in his own words:

"Just a quick note regarding this mix. I was on my way to a festival this summer and at the train
station I bought a Best of Fleetwood Mac CD. At some point on the transfer bus I encountered
Worried Dreams which probably is the most intense song I ve ever heard. You know you could
say my father died brokenhearted but lived the Blues before he died and I miss him sometimes
and the Blues brings him a little bit closer again. This is for him." Marcel Vogel, November 2011.

deep down into a little autumn-winter mood in the beginning with a few picks of my favourite albums of the moment into bigger beats and giant sounds plus the very fine jam sounds of floating points who truly never disappoints.
second half introducing sirius & methodikal out of sofia/bulgaria with their vinyl only mix which has been sitting around a while in the soulsearching studio, now finally released. they are taking care of the good music, clubnights, concerts in sofia. thanks a lot for the mix, guys
and hope to be seeing you soon again in sofia or somewhere along the french coast...

back from a little break on the westcoast of italia, beautiful landscapes, nice people, waves and sunshine.
back into music, catching up with all the niceness comin in by the likes of mauricio maestro & nana vasconcelos,
who recorded a wonderful album for far out recordings, a pick of the highly recommended liquid love compilation
as selected by rainer trueby for the especial dj series, plus a huge african selection before and in the exclusive mix
by makossa & megablast, handed over ghe microphone to singer og spiritual goddess for a little info about the tunes
and the new, second album by the vienna based soundsystem. west african style par excellence, inspiration information for
"soy como soy" (luv lite) which is about to drop in november. thanks a lot guys !!!
finishing off more in the house section, a live version of metro area courtesy of ennio styles who provided me with
the tune and lovebirds new 12 on freerange.

feels good, more music comin up next week.
