It all started back in october 2003 at 5am one saturday morning for the canine boys as sam caterer (originally a drum & bass dj & producer) and andy isbister (originally a techno dj & producer) were introduced to each other by a mutual friend. With over 20 years of combined Dj & industry experience it was obvious from the start that these two boys were destined to work together.
A shared love of djing, partying and breakbeat saw the birth of caninesounds and from that moment the boys haven't looked back.
Their unique dj style and unsurpassed enthusiasm saw them quickly recruited by samurai fm to host the monthly breaks show
www.samurai.fm/caninesounds. Their natural radio presence saw their samurai show quickly become one of the most respected internet-only breaks shows and soon became the platform that was to lead to greater things.
Guest mixes and interviews followed on radio stations around the world including MOS radio, Australia's Lush FM and Brighton's Juice FM. And at the same time caninesounds were earning a name for themselves on the dj circuit with their fresh attitude, exciting style and inimitable crowd interaction. Gigs the length and breadth of the country followed but it was in 2006 that the boys really found prominence.
In march of 06 caninesounds were snapped up by brighton's passion radio to present the weekly breakbeat show, joining a roster that already boasted the likes of Matt Darey, Graham Gold Agnelli & Nelson and Adam H

The broken sessions were born and the boys rewrote the rule book for breakbeat radio shows. A sign of the respect the show has earned can be found by perusing the long list of guest mixers who have graced the broken sessions' wheels of steel, it really does read like a who's who of breakbeat: Elite Force, Dylan Rhymes, Meat Katie, Evil Nine, Stanton Warriors, Atomic Hooligan, Koma & Bones, Drummatic Twins, Chris Carter, Metric, 30Hz and Rennie Pilgrem to name a few - the list goes on and on!
2006 also saw caninesounds leave their mark on the festival scene, with appearances at the secret garden party, bestival and a defining set closing the lost disco at the inaugural bloom festival which is still talked about today. It was only natural that their flair wouldn't go unnoticed and an increasingly busy dj schedule culminated in the boys joining the roster for the infamous Lot 49 end of year party with Meat Katie.
An explosive start to 2007 saw Sam and Andy gaining the respect they deserve as they joined the wicked spinout records residents roster and landed residencies for FAT! records off the wall night at Ministry of Sound and the ripping elektrobeast night at the Rhythm Factory.
In addition to all this, Spinout Records have given their backing to the boy's radio show with a rebranding for the new year and the birth of the spinout sessions on the south coast's number 1 station for dance music, passion radio.
Having signed to Spinout Records at the end of 2007, they have already remixed the likes of Lutzenkirchen, Richard Dinsdale, Si McEvoy, Adam Shaw, Baobinga & ID and Lissan & Stills, and their debut single Bounce went to No. 1 on the Beatsdigital download store, with remixes from Swen Weber and Dylan Rhymes this was a great way to begin their production career! Their follow-up Merrang, did equally as well with a consecutive No. 1 remixes from German superstars Moonbootica and fellow Spin Out-er Si McEvoys remix signed to Ministry of Sound, Germany and it was a fantastic way to start ‘09!
Caninesounds return to Ministry of Sound as residents for the fourth year running, this time under the Spin Out banner. As Spin Out Residents they regularly play at Egg, Inigo and wherever the Spin Out train takes
them. They are also residents for Lot 49 & the awsome Oz based Dim Sum.
