Breakin Bread is a soul, funk & hip-hop collective, based in London. Now 10 years old, the collective run a record label, London club nights, gigs all over the world and the renowned Breakin Bread Radio Show .
Having started off with a club night in South London in the late 90's, Breakin Bread became well known for funk-fuelled mayhem as the club pioneered playing hip-hop alongside the original soul, funk and disco breaks that gave birth to hip-hop. B-boys flocked to the club, a whole generation of hip-hop kids were introduced to the funkier side of the scene and the Breakin Bread crew became established players on the deep funk and soul scenes.
Within a year of starting the club the crew realised there was a massive demand for their mix of music and as a result Breakin Bread launched a record label. Starting a Sunday afternoon show on pirate station Itch FM, the crew soon became London's leading purveyors of soul, funk, disco and anything else related to hip-hop from the last 40 years.
Now presented by Skeg, Steve The Sleeve and J Squared and spreading the vibe further on Samurai FM.
