Bloc
BLOC Weekend is an annual English music festival, devoted to electronic music of all genres including electro, hip hop, IDM, techno and breakbeat, and incorporates both DJ sets and live shows. Since its debut in March 2007, it has played host to many world renowned artists, including Kool Keith, Autechre, Congo Natty, CJ Bolland, Two Lone Swordsmen, Red Snapper, Amon Tobin, Dave Clarke, Karl Bartos, Juan Atkins and A Guy Called Gerald.

he first two Bloc events took place at Pontin's holiday camp in Hemsby, Norfolk. This Holiday park on the east coast of the UK no longer exists, having been closed by Pontin's citing lack of interest in Hemsby as a holiday destination. There were 2,500 people at both events, tickets for which sold out approximately one month in advance.

The 2009 event, due to take place during 13-15th March 2009, has been moved to the larger Butlin's holiday camp in Minehead, Somerset. Future Sound of London, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Afrika Bambaataa, Carl Craig, Aphex Twin (to be joined on stage with Hecker), Green Velvet and Modeselektor are all notable acts that have been announced so far.

Lee Curtiss Live @ Bloc Weekend 2010

Over the last few years Lee Curtiss has made a name for himself creating primal, exquisitely deep and emotional dance tracks that pulse with life, sex, and humour, incorporating countless influences and genres but beholden to none. With his broad shoulders, even wider grin and keen sense of humour, Lee may give off the straight-shooting air of a Midwestern woodsman, but he’s got the ear, plain and simple. Lee Curtiss is an eccentric, an original, an innovator, a ten-year veteran of the electronic-music scene. His love of his craft shines through in his tracks’ every bump and shudder.

Check out this recording of Lee Curtiss taking the Bloc faithful through to the early hours of Saturday morning with a sublime set of disco, deep house and future classics.
